In 2018, a group of women came together under the name Women's Voices Women's Votes – 100 years on, to celebrate the centenary of the first women getting the vote. Martha Loader, a young Ipswich playwright, was commissioned to write a piece of street theatre telling the story of the Ipswich suffragettes. In October that year Footsteps was performed at the places in the centre of Ipswich where history was made by the local suffragettes.

It was entertaining and informative, and we are delighted that it has now been developed into a town trail with episodes on four sites. You can take the audio trail with you as you walk along the street or listen from the comfort of your own home by downloading the link https://soundcloud.com/user-969157779-676084807/footsteps-the-story-of-the-ipswich-suffragettes

A booklet is also available for £2 from Ipswich Tourist Information Centre (currently closed due to coronavirus).
